HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION
GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 317 27 July 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted men :
FIRST LIEUTENANT WILLIAM DOMINGUEZ, 02262638, Infantry, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 6 June 1951, elements of the 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry launched an attack against enemy-held positions in the vicinity of Chip'o-ri, Korea. During the attack, heavy enemy artillery barrages disrupted the battalion's communications, and it became impossible to maintain coordination between the assaulting elements. Heedless of the increasing intensity of the barrage, Lieutenant DOMINGUEZ fearlessly rallied his men and, leading them over the exposed terrain, established alternate lines of communication between the companies' command posts and that of the battalion. Lieutenant DOMINGUEZ'S heroic and aggressive actions enabled the battalion to secure the objective and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service form Puerto Rico.
