GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 266 10 July 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers and enlisted men :
FIRST LIEUTENANT ALFRED W. NYMAN, 01546390, Medical Service Corps, Medical Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 26 April 1951, the 2nd Battalion, 65th Infantry was attacked by an estimated enemy force of two regiments near Ilbisang-ni, Korea. The enemy force, securing the commanding terrain surrounding the command post and isolating it from the rest of the battalion, brought the command post and aid station under intense fire. Lieutenant NYMAN with complete disregard for his safety, organized the evacuation and security of the wounded, and the defense of the aid station. He repeatedly abandoned covered positions in order to organize and lead litter teams to successfully evacuate the wounded. Lieutenant NYMAN'S heroism and initiative reflect the highest credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from the State of New York.
