HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION
GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 141 14 May 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted man :
FIRST LIEUTENANT GLENN W. BROWN, 01031156, Armor, Heavy Tank Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 26 February 1951, near Chomch'an, Korea, Lieutenant BROWN and his platoon were attempthing to ford the Han River under heavy enemy small arms, machine gun, and artillery fire but, because the depth of the water prevented a safe crossing, it was necessary to make a withdrawal. While directing the withdrawal, Lieutenant BROWN'S tank received a direct hit by an enemy artillery round. With complete disregard for his own safety, he remained in position and, although his tank again received a direct hit, continued to cover and direct the successful withdrawal of his platoon. Lieutenant BROWN'S courage and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and exemplify the high traditions of the military service. Entered the military service from the State of Missouri.
