GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 366 - 18 August 1951
AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers and men:
FIRST LIEUTENANT REINALDO DELIZ SANTIAGO, 01685753, Infantry, Company "C", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 3 June 1951, near Sunbong-ni, Korea, Lieutenant DELIZ SANTIAGO'S platoon was ordered to attack and seize Hill 466 after the First Platoon had been repulsed by the firmly entrenched enemy. Leading his men in the assault, several casualties were sustained by the platoon when the enemy brought intense fire upon the unit. Heedless of the withering fire, Lieutenant DELIZ SANTIAGO fearlessly exposed himself to assist in evacuating the wounded men and, when ordered to withdraw, he remained with the weapons squad directing a covering fire which enabled the rest of the platoon to withdraw to safety. The heroism and courage exhibited by Lieutenant DELIZ SANTIAGO reflect high credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
