GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 367  31 Aug 1953

AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers:

Second Lieutenant STANLEY R. KOKOSKA, 01926885, Infantry, Company "F", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. During the afternoon of 10 June 1953, in the vicinity of Sagimak, Korea, Company "F" was moving back to friendly lines from Hill "412" after successfully accomplishing its assault mission. Enemy fire from a cave overlooking the route by which they were returning inflicted several casualties and threatened safe completion of the movement. Lieutenant KOKOSKA, platoon leader of the last platoon to move back, immediately led a squad of his platoon to the enemy stronghold. Braving the intense enemy automatic weapons and small arms fire, he courageously spearheaded an assault on the cave. Alternately, he hurled grenades and delivered accurate carbine fire on the enemy emplacement, neutralizing it and overcoming the last enemy resistance to the safe retrograde movement of the friendly troops. Lieutenant KOKOSKA'S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Connecticut.
