GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 332 12 Aug 1953AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:
Corporal CHARLES W. BRILL, JR., US52137093, Infantry, Company "E", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the night of 14 June and during the early mornin hours of 15 June 1953, Company "E" advanced to attack enemy held Hill "412" in the vicinity of Sagimak, Korea. Coroporal BRILL, a squad leader, charged to within ten yards of the enemy fortifications, hurling hand grenades, placing accurate rifle fire, and inflicting numerous casualties on the enemy forces. Exposing himself to intense mortar, small arms and automatic weapons fire, Corporal BRILL moved among his men, offering them encouragement and urging them to fight aggressively. Later, when wounded by grenade fragments, he refused to be evacuated and continued firing his weapon until the enemy was repelled. Corporal BRILL'S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Virginia.
