GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 276 26 July 1953AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:
Corporal JIMMIE ROSS, JR., US53130037, Infantry, Company "E", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the afternoon of 9 June 1953, Corporal ROSS was a member of an assault patrol which closed with the enemy in a fire fight on Hill "412" in the vicinity of Sagimak, Korea. As friendly troops entered the hostile trenches in a close combat fire fight, Corporal ROSS sought out the enemy caves and bunkers, throwing hand grenades and directing a hail of fire which inflicted numerous casualties upon the enemy force. On several occasions, he submitted himsel to the intense hostile fire to effectively fire upon the desperate enemy. When a hostile grenade exploded near Corporal ROSS and inflicted wounds upon him, he continued his fire until his wounds rendered him unconscious. Corporal Ross' outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Georgia.
