Corporal RICHARD P. De PASQUALE, RA12414018, Infantry, Medical Company, 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the night of 16 July 1953, in the vicinity of Kumhwa, Korea, a combat patrol from Company "C" left friendly lines to meet and destroy an enemy force near Hill "326". As the patrol moved towards the hill, it was subjected to heavy enemy mortar and artillery fire and sustained several casualties. Corporal De PASQUALE, a medical aidman attached to the patrol, immediately administered aid to the wounded and then moved up the hill with the main body of the unit. As the group was deploying in defensive positions, it was attacked by approximately thirty enemy troops. In the ensuing fire fight, Corporal De PASQUALE was rendered a casualty but, disregarding his wounds, courageously moved among other casualties administering medical aid. He continued to assist and give treatment to the wounded until rendered unconscious as a result of his wounds. Corporal De PASQUALE'S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from New York.
