GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 122 6 May 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted men :
CORPORAL SALVADOR LOPEZ, RA10402601, Army Medical Service, Medical Company 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 16 December 1950 near Tong-ni, Korea, Corporal LOPEZ volunteered to drive his litter jeep through a river to evacuated wounded of a platoon under attack on the far bank. Heedless of the fact that the river crossing was under enemy fire he started across on the errand of mercy only to be wounded twice when he had nearly reached his goal. The heroism of Corporal LOPEZ reflects great credit to himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
