GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 322 7 Aug 1953AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted men:
Master Sergeant (then Sergeant First Class) ARTHUR L. LINNELL, RA20143665, Infantry, Company "G", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the night of 13 June and during the early morning hours of 14 June 1953, Company "G" set out to accomplish its mission of raiding enemy positions on Hill "412" in the vicinity of Sagimak, Korea. As Sergeant LINNELL maneuvered his assaulting squad over the ridge of the hill, they were subjected to an intensive concentration of enemy mortar and artillery fire. While leading his men through this hail of fire, he was wounded. Nevertheless, he continued to advance towards his objective. Arriving on the objective, he directed the men of his squad in a fire fight which inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy. Sergeant LINNELL"S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Maine.
