Bronze Star
HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION
GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 21 - 26 JANUARY 1951
Master Sergeant Manuel Acevedo Jr. RA6674870, Infantry,
Company "E",
65th Infantry, 3d infantry Division, United States Army.
On 16 December
1950, near Hamhung, Korea Sergeant Acevedo, a platoon leader
of his unit,
was assigned a mission in the left flank of his unit on
the outpost line of
resistance. His platoon came under heavy enemy fire from
their left rear
position. Sergeant Acevedo without regard for his personal
safety exposed
himself continuously to heavy enemy fire while trying to
reach the left
flank of his platoon, and while supervising the evacuation
of the wounded.
His courageous and determined efforts resulted in his
platoon holding
their positions until ordered to withdraw. Sergeant Acevedo's
courage
and fearless leadership reflect great credit upon himself
and the military
service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
