GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 122 6 May 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted men :
MASTER SERGEANT MARTIN MALDONADO, RA6674845, Inafantry, Company "C" 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. Shortly after midnight on 21 December 1950 in the vicinity of Hungnam, Korea, during an attack on Company "C" and another company, a few enemy troops succeeded in infiltrating and moved to attack the company command post. Sergeant MALDONADO, displaying initiative and leadership, immediately organized a close perimeter defense around the command post. He also organized and led a patrol in an aggressive search of the entire area, constantly exposing himself to enemy fire, located and drove off the the enemy infiltrators. By his prompt actions he greatly assisted in repulsing the attack and reestablishing our lines. Sergeant MALDONADO'S outstanding courage and alertness reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
