GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 234 -7 July 1953AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers and enlisted men:
Private First Class ISOM MOUTON, RA19433909, Infantry, Company "E", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the morning and afternoon of 31 May 1953, three technical liaisen agents were seriously wounded while on a mission deep in enemy held territory in the vicinity of Songnae-dong, Korea, one of the casualties made his way back to the friendly lines and reported the action. A searching patrol from Company "E" was immediately organized and went forward. When they reached the approximate area of the action, it was ascertained that the two wounded men were within an enemy mine field. Private MOUTON immediately volunteered to enter the mine field and evacuate the men. While his comrades gave supporting fire he crawled over the precarious ground and evacuated the two seriously wounded men. After this heroic act was accomplished, the patrol returned to the friendly main line of resitance, sucessfully fulfilling their mission. Private MOUTON'S outstanding heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the militery service. Entered the Federal Service from California.
