Bronze Star
HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION
GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 22- 27 JANUARY 1951
Private First Class Mariano C. Perez ,
RA30429877, Infantry, Company
"I", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United
States Army. On 15
December 1950, at Songhung-ni, Korea, Private Perez
volunteered
with
members of the company command post to attempt to
close
a serious break
which had occurred in the line when an assault by a
numerically
superior
enemy had forced elements of Company "M" and Company
"I"
to withdraw.
Private Perez advanced with the volunteer group and
as
a result of the
action which followed, the line was closed. Private
Perez
assisted in
evacuating many wounded from the area. The entire
action
was conducted
in the face of small arms fire and in an area where
the
enemy had
infiltrated. The gallantry in action displayed by
Private
Perez reflects
great credit upon himself and the military service.
Entered
the military
service from Puerto Rico.
