GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 227 - 5 July 1953AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:
Private First Class PHILLIP L. PELLETIER, RA11238622, Infantry, Company "E", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On the night of 24 May 1953, a patrol from Company "K" was attacked by a reinforced hostile platoon in the vicinity of Kumhwa, Korea. Private PELLETIER went out to the patrol as a member of a supporting element, upon reaching the impact area, he learned that two men were missing. He then searched the area for those men while being constantly harassed by enemy fire. He located the body of the missing patrol leader and a seriously wounded comrade whom he evacuated to the perimeter set up by the patrol. As a result of his actions, the patrol was able to accomplish its mission and return to the friendly main line of resistance. Private PELLETIER'S outstanding herism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from Maine.
