GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 327 - 28 July 1951
AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:
PRIVATE FIRST CLASS JUAN J. PASTRANA, ER10400113, Army Medical Service, Medical Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. During the period 3 - 7 June 1951, while attacking well-defended enemy emplacements in the vicinity of Chioori and Yonggok, Korea, the 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry was subjected to intense artillery and mortar fire which inflicted heavy casualties on the friendly forces. Private PASTRANA fearlessly drove his litter jeep through the withering fire to evacuate his stricken comrades. As a result of his courageous actions, 92 wounded infantrymen were evacuated to the medical aid station where they received prompt attention. Private PASTRANA'S heroism and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
