GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 143 15 May 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers and enlisted man :
SERGEANT FIRST CLASS ARCADIO TORRES, RA10401723, Infantry, Company "F", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 8 November 1950, near Yonghung, Korea, a determined group of enemy attacked the positions of the weapons platoon of Company "F". During the attack, Sergeant TORRES, although wounded, elected to remain in control of his section. When his platoon was forced to withdraw about one hundred yards, he remained with the platoon until a counterattack was launched and the original positions regained. Sergeant TORRES' courage and devotion to duty were an inspiration to the members of his section and reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
