SERGEANT FIRST CLASS LORENZO CARTAGENA SOLIVAN, RA10404150, Infantry, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 6 February 1951, near B'an gyo-ni, Korea, Sergeant CARTAGENA SOLIVAN'S squad was pinned down by intense enemy small arms fire. In order to permit his squad to withdraw Sergeant CARTAGENA SOLIVAN, with complete disregard for his safety, repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire in order to draw the enemy's attention away from the beleaguered squad. The intrepid action of Sergeant CARTAGENA SOLIVAN enabled the squad to withdraw without casualty and reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
