GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 134 14 May 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officer and enlisted men :
SERGEANT FIRST CLASS MANUEL DE J. BURGOS, RA10401184, Infantry, Company "D", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 14 February 1951, while companies of the battalion were attacking a concentration of enemy at a hill near Noha-dong, Korea, the battalion command group was attacked by about thirty to fifty enemy. Sergeant BURGOS was at the battalion observation post when the enemy moved in to overun the position. He immediately opened fire with his carbine, and with complete disregard for his own safety charged against the enemy firing his weapon at close range killing six enemy soldiers. Sergeant BURGOS' courage and aggresiveness reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
