GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 129 9 May 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men :
SERGEANT ANTONIO GOMEZ, RA30401831, Infantry, Company "G", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 19 February 1951, near Myongil-li, Korea, Sergeant GOMEZ was acting as a platoon guide when Company "G" was given the mission to attack and hold Hill 88. With complete disregard for his personal safety, he continually exposed himself to enemy small arms and mortar fire as he moved from one position to another, assisting the platoon leader in controlling the advance and keeping the men firing and moving. During the engagement, Sergeant GOMEZ was seriously wounded by mortar fragments but, despite his wounds he continued to help in the attack untill he was evacuated. The devotion to duty and courageous action of Sergeant GOMEZ reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
