GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 125 7 May 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men :
SERGEANT (then CORPORAL) FRANCISCO MARTINEZ BERMUDEZ, RA30435359, Infantry, Company "E", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 19 February 1951, near Chom-chen, Korea, a platoon of Company "E" was attacking a well-fortified enemy held hill. During the attack the platoon was pinned down by heavy automatic weapons fire which killed one man and seriously wounded another. With complete disregard for his won personal safety, Sergeant MARTINEZ BERMUDEZ crawled through the fire-raked area to go to the assistance of his wounded comrade. In spite of the heavy enemy fire, he evauated the wounded man to a position of safety. The intrepid action of Sergeant MARTINEZ BERMUDEZ reflects great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
