HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION
GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 20 - 26 JANUARY 1951
Sergeant First Class Gregorio De Jesus, RA10401929, Infantry,
Company "I", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United
States Army. On 16 December, 1950, near Songhung-ni, Korea, Sergeant
De Jesus was a member of a volunteer group whose mission was to protect
and restore a serious break in the unit's lines, and participate in
an attack upon enemy positions. Under heavy small arms, automatic weapons,
and grenade fire, Sergeant De Jesus repeatedly exposed himself to
enemy fire and was instrumental in assisting the volunteer group in forcing
the enemy withdrawal and restoring the broken lines. During this action several
wounded men were discovered, placed on recovered vehicles, and
evacuated to safety by Sergeant De Jesus and hiscomrades while exposed to
enemy fire. The heroism and gallantry displayed by Sergeant De Jesus reflect
great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military
service from Puerto Rico.
