Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army.
On 22 December 1950,
near Hungnam, Korea, Sergeant Rodriguez was a member
of a listening post
located in front of the company lines. A large enemy
force was advancing
rendering the listening post untenable. Therefore
he decided to return with
the other three members of the post to their company.
As he and the group
approaching the company position, he noticed the
enemy setting up a machine
gun, and realizing the importance of not giving away
the company positions,
he and his comrades rushed the enemy killing them
with rifle butts. By his and
his comrades actions four enemy troops were killed,
an enemy machine gun
was destroyed, and the positions of his company were
undisclosed. the
intrepid action and heroism displayed by Sergeant
Rodriguez reflect great
credit upon himself and the military service. Entered
the military service
from Puerto Rico.
