On 26 April 1951, near Ilbisang-ni, Korea, the 2d Battalion was attacked by a large enemy force which succeeded in surrounding the command post and isolating it from the rest of the battalion. During the ensuing engagement, Sergeant IZQUIERDO constantly exposed himself to enemy fire to replenish the rapidly diminishing supply of ammunition. Sergeant IZQUIERDO'S selfless heroism immeasurably aided in the repulsion of the hostile attackers and reflects the highest credit upon himself and the military service.
