GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 260 11 July 1951AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named officers and enlisted men :
SERGEANT RALPH A. CHINEA, RA10406113, Infantry, Company "F", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 31 March 1951, Company "F" was attacking a well-defended and determined enemy on Hill 398 in the vicinity of Choksong-myon, Korea. During the assault, Sergeant CHINEA fearlessly exposed himself to the fierce enemy automatic weapons fire in order to lead his squad through the open hazardous terrain. Not stopping to protect himself, Sergeant CHINEA, pressed forward until his sector of the enemy line had been captured and the enemy routed. Sergeant CHINEA'S heroic and brave determination reflects great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
