AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men :

SERGEANT (then CORPORAL) VALENTIN JIMENEZ CRUZ, ER30422824, Army Medical Service, Medical Company, 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 26 April 1951, while Company "A" and a  light machine gun section from Company "D" were attacking enemy held positions on a hill near Okuayo, Korea, heavy hostile small arms, automatic weapons, and mortar fire were encountered and a number of friendly casualties sustained. Sergeant JIMENEZ CRUZ, an aidman attached to Company "A", fearlessly moved through the hail of fire blanketing the area and did much to alleviate the pain and suffering of the wounded. Even after many of the friendly infantrymen were forced to withdraw to more tenable positions, Sergenat JIMENEZ CRUZ courageously remained with the wounded until they had been safely evacuated. The heroism and selfless concern for the welfare of his fellow soldiers displayed by Sergeant JIMENEZ CRUZ reflect the highest credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
