GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 358 -9 December 1952
AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal with Letter "V" device for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States is awarded to the following named enlisted men:
Corporal LUIS VILLOT NAZARIO, US50107951, Infantry, Company "C", 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. In the early morning hours of 19 July 1952, Company "C", of which Corporal VILLOT NAZARIO was a member, was assigned the mission of attacking and seizing a strategically important enemy occupied hill in the vicinity of Nurum-Kogae, Korea. As the forward elements of the friendly assault group neared their objective, they were suddenly subjected to intense enemy small arms, artillery and mortar fire. Corporal VILLOT NAZARIO, serving as a squad leader, disregarded the heavy barrage and fearlessly lead his men towards the objective. When his rifle refused to function, he unhesitatingly grasped the automatic rifle of a fallen comrade and began spraying a deadly hail of fire upon the fanatical foe. As he was nearing the enemy trenches, he was wounded by enemy small arms fire, but disregarding his pain and refusing evacuation, he continued to courageously lead his men in the attack. Shouting words of encouragement, he continued to in the bitter fight until he received additional wounds of a serious nature. Corporal VILLIOT NAZARIO'S extreme heroism and intrepid actions under enemy fire reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal service from Puerto Rico.
