HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION

 

    AWARD OF THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL - By direction of the President, under the provisions of Executive Order 9419, 4 February 1944 (Sec II, WD Bul 3, 1944), and pursuant to authority in AR 600-45, the Bronze Star Medal  for meritorious service in connection with military operations against an armed enemy during the period indicated is awarded to the following named officer.

FIRST LIEUTENANT MILES E. GEER, 02028690, Infantry, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3d Battalion, 65th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army is cited for meritorious service in connection with military operations against an armed enemy during the period 10 January 1953 to 5 January 1954. Lieutenant GEER, serving as Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Battalion S-1 and later as S-2, performed his duties in a superior manner. His tireless enthusiasm, aggresive leadership qualities and persistant efforts in training and leading his men were instrumental in achieving the units high morale and close coordination despite adverse conditions. He supervised the preparation and maintenance of personnel records, reports, rosters, and correspondence with exceptional efficiency and a meticulous attention to detail. His valuable services in the collection, evaluation, intrepretation and dessemination of military inteligence contributed materially to the Battalion's constant combat preparedness. Lieutenant GEER'S outstanding skill, initiative and untiring devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the Federal Service from New Jersey.
