HEADQUARTERS 3D INFANTRY DIVISION
GENERAL ORDERS - NUMBER 93 - 05 March 1952

CORPORAL AGUSTIN MARQUEZ MIRANDA, US50103533, Infantry, Company "E", 65th Infantry, 3d Infantry Division, United States Army. On 11-12 December 1951, as elements of Company "E" were assaulting Hill 168 near Toyon-ni, Korea, they encountered a devastating hail of hostile grenade, small arms and automatic weapons fire. Disregarding the intensity of the enemy fire, Corporal MARQUEZ MIRANDA, a gunner in the recoilless rifle section, fearlessly made his way up the fire swept hill side to its crest. Unassisted, he laid down such a lethal stream of fire that he succeeded in neutralizing an enemy machine gun emplacement. Later in the engagement when his platoon was forced to withdraw to more tenable positions, he remained in his exposed position, providing covering fire for his comrades until they had reached safety. Corporal MARQUEZ MIRANDA'S heroic and courageous actions reflect great credit upon himself and the military service. Entered the military service from Puerto Rico.
